Andrea Giuffredi in Recital (LE)

While he originally made his mark as principal trumpet with major Italian orchestras for more than 25 years, Andrea Giu- freddi’s work in film and commercial styles largely influenced the repertoire for this recital. He opened with several lovely ballads mostly from famous Italian soundtracks. Giufreddi’s stunning lyricism was supported by subtle underlying textures through tender piano accompaniments, acoustic bass, and drum set mostly with only brushes. One might best describe these renditions as the trumpet played in the style of Andrea Boccelli with rhythm section accompaniment, and indeed, Giu freddi’s passion equaled that of this renowned vocalist. Some brief be-bop style interjections provided dazzling tech- nique with the same sentimental and stunningly moving sound. Highlights from the recital included Misty performed in a traditional jazz ballad style, a crowd-pleasing Latin-funk version of The Carnival of Venice, an up-tempo choro by leg- endary Brazilian composer Pixinguinha, and Vittorio Monti’s Czardas integrated with the extreme pedal register. Giufreddi’s unique style and luscious sound served as a wonderful voice for the impassioned melodies presented.

GalaConcert: Sydney AllStar Big Band with Soloists (NY)

The closing gala concert of ITG 2010 featured Ralph Pyl and his Sydney All Star Big Band with an impressive roster of guest artists. The band’s storming, live- ly opener was Just Joshing by their alto sax Graham Jesse and it fea- tured fine solos from Jesse himself and from lead trombone Dave Panichi.
The first trumpet soloist on was Andrea Giufreddi who launched into Green Hornet (an adaptation of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee) with an incredible ferocious energy and lots of fast tonguing Apparent- ly it’s “as recorded by Al Hirt”—something I will be needing to hear!

E' uscito "AFTERTHOUGHTS" per tromba sola

Composto da Frank Campo stimato compositore Statunitense . Il brano e' stato composto per/ e dedicato ad Andrea Giuffredi.
La prima esecuzione mondiale e' stata fatta da Andrea Giuffredi alla ITG conference 2004, che ha inoltre inciso ed inserito il brano nel cd "L'anacoreta" edito da Summit Records. La musica di "Afterthoughts" è possibile ordinarla a: Dario Music, 12336 Milbank St., Studio City, CA 91604

E' uscito AFRIKA

Pubblicato da Edizioni Curci (EC 11513), un brano di Raffaele Bellafronte suonato da Andrea Giuffredi in prima mondiale a ITG conference 2004 a Denver, lo spartito contiene anche un CD con l' esecuzione di Giuffredi.
