Andrea Giuffredi

Andrea Giuffredi was born in Parma in February 1965.

He started playing trumpet at the age of 9, he entered the Conservatory at 14, and at 16 he got his first professional job in the trumpet section of the RAI (Italian National Television) Symphony Orchestra in Milan.

Since then he worked as a freelance Principal Trumpet in the most important Italian symphony orchestras. In particular he worked on a regular basis for the RAI (Italian National Television) Symphony Orchestra Milan and Turin ,"Arturo Toscanini" Symphony Orchestra in Parma, " Teatro Regio Orchestra " Parma", " I pomeriggi Musicali " Milan and occasionally "Teatro Comunale" in Florence and "Teatro alla Scala" in Milan for a total of over 25 years of experience as a professional symphonic Principal Trumpet.

He played under the most famous conductors, like Riccardo Muti, George Prêtre, Zubin Mehta, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Seiji Ozawa, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Antonio Pappano and others, in the world's most famous concert halls.

Besides this long and intense symphonic/opera activity he also performed with chamber music ensembles, in TV shows and solo concerts.

Below is a list of the most important events and collaborations:

In the late 80s he played with the most important Italian contemporary chamber music ensembles, "Gruppo Musica Insieme" in Cremona and "Carme" in Milan.

In 1985 he graduated in trumpet at G. Nicolini Conservatory in Piacenza.

From 1990 to 1997 he played as a soloist with "Solisti Veneti" ensemble, directed by Claudio Scimone.

Meanwhile he was playing with Luciano Berio ensemble for the performance of "Ofanìm" in Israel.

In 1996 he started playing lead trumpet in entertainment TV shows for network Mediaset.

He did several recording sessions for advertising jingles , Cds, and TV show sound tracks.

He performed with the most famous Italian and International singers, like Luciano Pavarotti, George Michael and Liza Minnelli, just to name a few.

In 2000 he performed as Principal Trumpet in the orchestra of the Pavarotti & Friends event.

In the early years of the new century he started to be known and appreciated outside of his native Country thanks to "Forme d'Arte", his first solo recording for American label Summit Records.

In 2004 he was invited to ITG International Trumpet Guild World Conference (the famous yearly event in which the worlds most important trumpet players are invited to perform) at Denver University, USA. He was invited again for the 2010 edition in Sydney, Australia, and the 2012 edition in Columbus State university, USA.

In 2005 he published his second solo recording, "L'Anacoreta", again for Summit Records (DCD-392).

In 2006 he played as Principal Trumpet in Ennio Morricone's tour with "Filarmonica Teatro alla Scala" Orchestra.

He played in duet with Joseph Alessi, Principal Trombone for New York Philarmonic.

In 2008 he releases his third solo recording for Summit Records, "Tribute to Luciano Pavarotti" (DCD-499).

He plays in a duet with Liza Minnelli in "Porta a Porta" TV show for Italian National Television channel 1 Rai Uno.

From 2008 on his solo activity got more intense, and he played as a soloist with important Symphony Orchestras like:

  • Krasnoyarsk Symphony Orchestra (Russia)
  • Orchestra Sinfonica Arturo Toscanini (Parma)
  • Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana
  • Taipei Symphoni Orchestra (Taiwan)

His activity allowed him to perform in the world's most important concert halls in Turchis, Japan, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Finland, Greece, China, Mexico, France, USA, Bulgaria, Romania, Iraq, Tunisia, Ecypt, Spain, Malta, Albania, Israel, Russia, Chech Republic, Italy, Australia, Taiwan.

He also held conferences and masterclasses on trumpet playing all over the world: USA, Greece, Italy, Spain, Germany, Finland, Japan, China, Taiwan, Australia.

In 2010 and 2011 he played lead trumpet in the main TV shows for Mediaset network.

Since 1993 he is Professor of Trumpet at Civica Scuola in Milan.
